There is no escaping it March was a poor month for playing games.

The impact of the collapse of Tuesday evening gaming is obvious. Although it has been cool that one or two longer to play games have made it to the table.

Let’s look at the depressing numbers.

Thought I’d combine the two posts this month.

So let’s start with a look at the games I played in the second half of the month.

Viticulture: I really do like the Bordeaux board. This time we added in the special workers expansion. It’s not a big addition and makes the decision when training a new worker a little bit more interesting. I think I can take or leave this expansion. It’s not essential.

Rebel Princess: ‘nuff said. We know how I feel about this game.

Euphoria: with the Essential edition coming out later in the year (I think April/May time) I wanted to try the game first. Luckily Charlene had the game. I rather liked it. So yes when the Essential edition is released I’ll pick a copy up.

Innovation Ultimate: we played with the Unseen and Cities expansions. Which is the maximum number of expansions you can play with at one time, and the two easiest ones. Once we got over the hurdle of the rules for the two expansions, the game with them was a lot of fun. It felt like there was a lot more take that going on. Which was needed to prevent a run away winner.

Heat Pedal to the Metal: Really liked this card driven race game. It’s a car version of Flamme Rouge. Which I enjoyed also when I played it years ago.

Scout: such a great card game in such a small box.

The Stats

Looking at the overall stats for the month the numbers aren’t the best. You can see the impact of not playing on a Tuesday has.

My 2025 Boardgaming

It’s that time of year once again where I bore you with the stats for the year.

This year despite one or two poor months I’ve surprisingly played more games than last year, yet had less plays! I’ve also played more new to me games.

I’ve said in a previous post this year seems to be the return of some old favourites such as Netrunner and Ashes. Which I’m glad I’ve done. I’ve really enjoyed playing these games again.

My GOTY…

I think this is probably the easiest year since I started doing this for choosing my game of the year.

As you can see from below I’ve played 84 new games (to me) this year. And there have been some crackers.

But before I share with you my GOTY I think a few honourable mentions need to be made. Any other time these games would be worthy winners.

Honourable mentions: Battle of Hoth, War, Furnace, Tir na nog, Vantage, Rebirth

Ok and now onto my GOTY. Which I think you could guess easily.

My GOTY is…

Rebel Princess.

This is such an amazing trick taking game.

It became a group favourite after the first play. It’s quick to teach. The variety from the princesses and round cards makes each game feel unique.

We have had so many moments and laughs playing this game.

The boring bit…

This month really has been a month of feast and famine in the gaming front.

Although it has been nice to get some of the new arrivals to the table and to have a couple of themed gaming sessions.

Overall it’s been an average sort of month. Which at one point when it was looking like hardly any gaming would take place is a pleasant surprise.

Another month in the can.

The clocks have gone back, the days getting shorter as the nights get longer.

So as we go into the final two months of 2025 it’s time once more to share my gaming stats for the month just gone.

Bgstats for September 2025

Well that’s another month gone and we edge just that little bit closer to Christmas (Christmas chocolates etc have been on sale for over a month now in the supermarkets).

It’s been a below average month for gaming thanks to getting vertigo, and others in the group also having health problems.

Wow this month has flown by.

I’m hoping September flies by as well because at the end of it, maybe a day or two into October Diogo should be joining the little monsters. Plus I’m also on holiday at the same time.

But I know September will drag on especially as it gets closer to arrival and the excitement levels ramp up.

However today you are here to see what I played in August. And you know I hate to disappoint.
