Next up on the half term film fest for me (I’m taking Blockbuster up on their kind offer of 2 weeks free rentals (one a day) to new members) is one I think some of you might also like to watch.
It’s a film called The Way starring Martin Sheen. I’ll be watching the movie tomorrow and putting up a review then.
In the meantime here is the trailer for the movie
This is in my media library, but as yet unwatched.
When you review, please check the authenticity of pack weights
In every film I’ve seen with backpacks, they all seem to be stuffed with foam rubber!
There’s a coincidence, I watched this last night. Needless to say some of their packs look really big and heavy. Being 60+ and totally unaccustomed to distance walking, Tom wouldn’t have done that 500-mile walk anywhere near as easily, but only us backpackers know that, it doesn’t matter for the film.
I know of El Camino de Santiago and that it’s a pilgrimage, but nothing more. I must say most of the film didn’t really inspire me in terms of landscapes, but it was set almost entirely on the Spanish side and there was virtually nothing in the Pyrenees section.
It’s a slight tale but I quite enjoyed it, a quietly affecting film when you’re in the right mood.
That foam rubber filled pack thing drives me insane! (and everyone who has the misfortune to be watching a film with me as I rant about it…)
