Reflective Mood

As Autumn approaches, I think it’s time to reflect back on the Summer. I’ve spent a lot of time at Fleet Pond this year. I’ve had the new camera (Fuji Finepix S5600) that has enhanced my walks a lot. I’ve seen so much wild life this Summer it’s been incredible. Hopefully you have enjoyed the bits I have managed to capture on camera.
I’ve really come to love my walks round Fleet Pond, for the variety of wildlife it has. I know I have only scratched the surface of what is there. But now I need to take what I have learned so far, and use that knowledge to spot wild life in other places.
Above: I was able to get close to this Crow (??) and also capture it in flight.
Below: Birch Polypore
Below: Heron hunting in Fleet Pond.
Above Left: Cormorant resting on Fleet Pond. It’s hard to tell from the photo, so that’s my best guess. Above right: A deer, I think this is the one I saw earlier in the Summer.
Below: Bud tackles an extremely deadly stick. This is why they are mans best friend. Who else would put themselves at risk like this to protect you? Not a cat for sure.
Above Left: The Fleet Pond Shetland Ponies. The one on the left reminds me of a friend called Peter Hobbit (he is so going to kill me when he reads this posting now ^__^ ). Above Right: Some delicate landscaping in progress.

Great photos. I’m pretty sure that is a crow. Jackdaws are more compact and dapper somehow, and you don’t often see them alone. Rooks are also pretty gregarious and have a distinctive naked patch on their faces near their beak, not always easy to see, but your photo is detailed enough to have captured it I think.
I have enjoyed your visits to Fleet Pond and look forward to many more, I hope!

Mark,
thanks for confirming that. Oh I will be back to Fleet Pond for sure. And thanks for the compliment.

Love the pictures – keep them coming – you bring the outdoors indoors for me.
