Petition – Day 1 Update
So far since going live seventeen people have signed the petition. Five of them had done so before I’d received the email saying it was live!!
This is what I am hoping to achieve (taken from the FAQ on the petitions web site):
“Once your petition has closed, usually provided there are 200 signatures or more, it will be passed to officials who work for the Prime Minister in Downing Street, or sent to the relevant Government department for a response.
Every person who signs such a petition will receive an email detailing the Government’s response to the issues raised.”
Originally I had the petition finishing just before I started the TGOC, but after taking so long to get approval (due to a backlog at the site) it now finished after the TGOC. Which somehow seems more appropriate, having by then having spent two weeks wild camping across Scotland.
It would be great if one of the magazines picked this up and ran with it as well. But I can only dream of that sort of backing. Duncan does raise the question over on his blog (see below for a link) as to why they haven’t started something like this in the past? One question I have about the magazines when they promote wild camping is this, aren’t they encouraging people to break the law?
Quick Request
If I was able to produce a graphic for people to place on their websites/blogs to show support for this I would. So if any of you photoshop wizards out there want to turn your hand to producing one that would be great. Otherwise spread the word ![]()
Petition In The Bloggersphere
The bloggersphere has started to pick up on my posting yesterday.
First off the block is Aktoman who has some great thoughts on the subject “Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free“.

Have you contacted Cameron? Even if he does not get it in TGO it may well be worth a mention in the Backpackers mag?
Not sure when the next backpackers club magazine is due out (not a member anymore) but it may be after the deadline.
You could try posting on their forum
http://www.5wwwww5.com/forum/index.php?mforum=bpclub
….and spread a bit wider across the forums
Left a note on the TGO Challenge and Trail Forum yet?
