More TGOC Route Planning

You know how it is sometimes, you think you will be writing one thing, and end up writing another. And today is one of those times.
I thought my only posting today would be about Dawn and I meeting up to discuss route details for the crossing (which I will do later). But no Virgin InActive decided to kick me off on another mini rant about them.
As I was leaving the train station to walk home, ie at the end of my commute for the day. There standing outside handy out leaflets trying to promote Virgin InActive where two Virgin InActive booth babes. I naturally refused one of the leaflets, and surprisingly kept my mouth shut. But the blood started to boil as I walked home. I thought the balls of Virgin InActive, after clearly sending the message that they don’t want commuters to actively go out and try sign them up. So would Virgin InActive like to comment on what classes these commuters could do in an evening? None if they can’t make it until after 7pm to a class. I think Virgin InActive need to rethink the packages they offer to people and come up with a cheaper rate for those that don’t want classes or can’t attend them as Virgin InActive only put them on at times convient for soccer mums.
Right as I try and calm down by visiting my happy place. Let’s talk about the TGOC route planning. <happy place, happy place> Ok lunchtime saw Dawn and I eating fish and chips whilst looking over maps of Scotland finalising sections of the route. I think the chip shop look on the two of us being a bit weird sitting there with 1:25k maps spreadout all over the place. There was a couple of bits we needed to sort out, one of which was how to get from Braemar to Stonehaven. We also worked out where we would be posting resupplies to and how many drops we would need. These worked out to be at fairly logical places along the way. Whilst also working out where we would do our required phone calls to TGOC HQ enroute. Three of these naturally work out, and make sense to be where we are picking our supply packages from. So a productive lunchtime, which leaves me to struggle with the new version of Quo2 (not touched it since the weekend) to write up the route before sending to Dawn to check over, before sending off for vetting.

Braemar to Stonehaven, easy! I’ll not give you the whole thing but look at the following. Braemar-Balmoral-Gelder Shiel-Spittal of Glen Muick-Tarfside-Charr Bothy-Feteresso Forest-Stonehaven (or preferably Dunottar Castle).
Would you like a Challenge Diary to include in your collection? If so let me know where to e-mail it. It does include photos bty.
Peter.

Mr. Grumpy,
Dawn and I have a route worked out. Which I think isn’t too far off what you have there, although we definitely are not going through Balmoral.
I’ve emailed you about the Challenge Diary as I would love to read that. Sometimes I have been known to print them out and read them on the train. Which has given me an idea, why don’t they gather up the diaries and reprint them as a book to celebrate the 30th TGOC next year? That would be amazing.
